Showcasing the KZN export potential

Showcasing the KZN export potential

By Nikolas Archontis

Just ahead of Easter, the Pietermaritzburg & Midlands Chamber of Business (PMCB) really turned the heat. Fired up by the motivation and the flair of inspiring people, already calling themselves “GEAPERS”.

On the 22nd of March, PMCB held its GEAP Product Showcase Event. More than 35 SMEs exhibited their goods and services, sending out a strong message: Support Local Business – Create Employment. Among them, one could learn a lot from Prof. Joyce Chitja, the woman behind Vuna Seeds, or as the local farmers call it the resilient “Zulu Seed”; dedicated to supporting sustainable farming and quality food production.

Or even see that clean sparkle in the eyes of Nomandla Ngcoya, sharing the story of how she went to Germany to showcase her eco-friendly detergents and beauty products (D Chem).

One can only feel humbled before Lindokuhle Nzimande and his associates in their brick-and-block machinery manufacturing facility (Mfan Steele); built again literally from its ashes after the looting incidents.

And if you want a real taste of KZN, you should try crispy chips from locally grown vegetables (Sibocali), GEAP favourite indian flat bread (Top Rotis), and even had a sip of -strictly medicinal- cannabis tea (Hashtag).
